Why Do I Focus On Israel?

This is a correspondence I had with a very good Jewish friend of mine:

Subject: Why Do I Focus On Israel?

I do it out of surprise, first, I think, and because Israel is AT BAT, in the most important game on earth, for human survival.

That ME oil and gas are crucial to short term (& thus also long term) human survival needs no further explanation, I surmise.

That "little" Israel is AT BAT and also swings a very big bat (has nukes) (has accepted no nuke treaty or oversight)(is probably the 4th most powerful military in the world) also goes without saying.

What is much more difficult to see, and I am still unclear on it, is whether Israel is under the U.S. thumb and thus "our" agent, or we have become an agent of Israel.  What I expect to conclude some day is that both countries are in many ways equals...yes...and deeply  entangled with each other, very deeply influential in the essence of each other and upon each other's policies.  [Almost like, say, the Democratic and Republican parties in domestic politics.]

Israeli influence on U.S. policy cannot be doubted.  Were Israel suicidal, and it may be, the country can bring down the world. I will go so far as to tell you what i really think, but have no hard evidence of, re the ultimate source of Israeli influence here.

Let me tip toe up to it, via an example:  When the GAZA shitfight was  almost over and the rest of the world (also I) was OVERWHELMINGLY  concluding that the exercise was absolutely brutal, the reasons given  for it were absolute horseshit,  and the "conflict" was genocidal (i.e. racial) also criminal under international law.  (And the U.S. was criminally involved in it.)  Many Americans and American Jews also think so.

Given all that, nevertheless a vote is taken in the U.S. House (later in the Senate?) which is billed as a "support (for Israel) Resolution" and only 5 out of 435 "Representatives" vote against that resolution.  How does one account for this? Our Congress is full of good guys and geniuses that love israel?  I don't think so.  (Though they are all a helluva lot smarter, STREET-WISE and in matters of "influence" generally than most Americans know.) Shall we visit the various  so-called antisemitic explanations e.g. Jewish money, influence, bribery, infiltration, information (media) & myth/thought control (Hollywood) to explain it then?

Even if some or all of those dark beliefs are true re what has been deployed, they are NOT ENOUGH to account for that vote.  Money cannot account for that vote.  I am, actually am, a quite accomplished political scientist and sociologist; and i am sure there must be more involved in that big Dumb Ass GAZA vote in the teeth of World and growing American opinion, than just money.   Just LARGE campaign contributions (bribes) promised to every incumbent or threatened to be given out instead to some or all challengers......is not enough.

Phil, this layout of menace has sort of exhausted me.  I want to say more about surprise. But I need to close. 

The other reason, in short, why I focus on Israel and not all that other abuse by evident monsters that you rightly cite, is precisely because it is clear to me from having been friends with so many Jews
over the years, that Jews are not monsters.  Far from it.  Thus
my surprise, and also my focus, since I do know a thing or two about Jewish intelligence (the good kind) humanity & decency.......It ought to be possible I think, to change THIS people's mind, even if we can change no one else's.

I see a rising, tribal Right Wing illness in Israel and many other places, here and around the world.  It is anti-Western, in my view.  Real Old World, derives from poverty long ago, and insularity/fear of abuse of "The Other"  (tribal madmen) and actual abuse---of which there has been no shortage anywhere.  

I do not believe that Jews have been uniquely, though they have been spectacularly, abused in the great stream of human history.   I put that, and the "chosen people" "promised land" bits right up there with Jesus Christ, Santa Clause, and "American Decency" in the Myth department. We are controlled by myths, by "narrative", by story.

This rising tribal tide needs desperately to be countered.  Everything about the complexities and emptiness and dangerousness of modern high tech, over- populated urbanized life is driving us into primitive tribal patterns of hatred and abuse.  We humans, as I know you know, have very little to recommend us vs other animals on this planet....
were we ever to be judged---which will not happen. 

There is no GOD.  There is only Love and Poof.  PUFF THE MAGIC DRAGON.  I say choose love.  Choose each other.
